"The human voice is our most ancient and honest instrument. It reveals our energy, our health, and our confidence. Singing empowers and enables us to connect on a deep, emotional level that transcends the spoken word." — Nathan Van Arsdale 😊
Professional Experience, Proven Results
Mastering the voice requires more than talent; it demands a foundation of health, discipline, and daily practice. A Member of the Acoustical Society of America, Nathan brings over 25 years of elite experience as a professional Bass-Baritone. Having performed internationally in opera houses, the Las Vegas Strip, professional choirs, commercial voice-over studios, Carnegie Hall, The Lincoln Center, and the White House, he understands the high-stakes pressure of professional performance and the technical demands of daily vocal use. Nathan’s own voice resonates with peace and power, sensitivity and vitality—and he excels at helping others find their true resonance. When your voice feels "out of tune," your message doesn't land. Nathan helps bridge that gap, moving you from vocal strain to natural resonance.
The Science of Sustainable Sound
Nathan holds a Master’s degree in Music with a focus on Performance and Vocology (the physiology of acoustics and vocal health). He trained under the mentorship of legendary Baritones Dr. Tod Fitzpatrick and Sherrill Milnes, Bass Gustavo Halley, Professor David Weiller, and Director Marshall Townshend.
In an age of heavily processed recordings, many singers instinctively try to imitate what they hear rather than honoring the unique shape of their own instrument. This imitation is a primary cause of vocal strain. Influenced by W. Stephen Smith’s The Naked Voice, as well as his own practice of yoga, meditation, and weight-training, Nathan’s approach is grounded in the physical mechanics of how the body connects to the breath. This ensures that whether you are a middle school student or a retiree, you are building a healthy voice that is truly yours.
A Modern Ear on an Ancient Art
Nathan’s work is informed by a deep respect for the physics of sound—from the acoustic precision of historic cathedrals to the modern science of frequency. By integrating his background in yoga, his synesthetic perception of sound and color, and his interest in Cymatics (the study of how frequencies affect matter), Nathan considers the "whole person" when helping you master your unique instrument.
